Cambridge 2000: Hills Road: Botanic House
A dramatic office building bordering the Botanic Garden, and situated at
the west end of Station Road, this replaced a much smaller office building.
This, totally glazed, side faces north and the other side is half brick,
which is opposite the normal convention but the aspect determined this,
and also modern offices produce enough heat from computer equipment
that heat losses to the north and solar gain from the south are probably
not the drivers.
The
War Memorial
in front was moved from the middle of the road to this location at the
same time.
