Cambridge 2000: Chesterton area: looking north

Aerial Photos: 9 September 2000: Chesterton area: looking north

This shows the main part of Chesterton. The large white factory building near the middle is the Simoco building (originally Pye Telecommunications), which was demolished in 2003 to make way for the Vie housing development. To the left of that is St Andrew's Church. To the left of that is another factory building, which was demolished in around 2001 to make way for the St Andrew's Park housing development. The chimney stack on the opposite side of the Cam to the Simoco building is the Cambridge Museum of Technology. In front of that is the remains of the gas cylinder structure, which was demolished in June 2000, to be replaced with housing and a large Tesco store. At the top right is Napp Pharmaceutical on the Cambridge Science Park.
