Botanic Garden: Brookside: 1: Brookside Gate and kiosk
When the Botanic Garden took over the use of
1 Brookside,
the new main entrance to the garden was moved to
the north-west corner, and included the construction
of a new ticket office. It opened on 20 October 2008.
The gate was made by Mackay Engineering and the dark
green colour is a shift away from the black that other
ironwork is painted in Cambridge, e.g. along the western
border of the garden next to
Hobson's Conduit
(apparently the fashion for black only came in after
World War II).
