Built on the garden of another property, this courtyard house was designed by Tim Poulson, who was also the developer. Unusually for Cambridge, the house has almost half its living space underground.
The main architectural feature inside is a semi-circular staircase leading from the entrance hall in the centre of the house on the ground floor down to the lower floor.
The roof is zinc, with solar panels on the south-facing slope, and there is a small frameless structural glass double-height conservatory at the eastern end of the house (to the left in the photo).
The entrance hall has glass flooring and combined with the stairwell this provides some natural lighting in the centre of the lower floor. The conservatory does the same at the one end.
