Kingfisher Way: Steel Building

Cambridge, England: Kingfisher Way: Steel Building (Alison Brooks)
(maps showing location: Google Streetmap Multimap )
Date photograph taken: 07 March 2008
Date built: 2007-2008
Architect: Alison Brooks

The first completed building of phase two of the Accordia development off of Brooklands Avenue. This is a step up in style from the phase one buildings, with the balconies the main focal point, even if the semi-random pattern is a bit contrived. The balconies appear also on the east-facing front of the building, but they make more sense on this west-facing garden side, not only because it is relatively private, overlooking the greenery around Hobson's Conduit (Vicar's Brook), but also because balconies are more likely to be used in the afternoon than in the morning, so a west-facing aspect is perfect.
