Cambridge 2000: Kingfisher Way: Glass Building
This is the most architecturally interesting in the first phase
of the new housing (the Accordia development) built on the old
government office site.
It has gabions of stone at the base and copper sheeting covering
the exterior walls. The side at the back is mainly glass, hence
the name of the building.
In the background at the right is
Brooklands.
The Accordia development (as a whole) was awarded the RIBA Stirling
prize for 2008 (this is the top annual UK architecture prize).
