Histon Road: city boundary sign
|
|
| (maps showing location: Google Streetmap Multimap ) |
| Date photograph taken: 07 December 2000 |
One of the signs marking the entrance to Cambridge found along all the major roads into the city. Cambridge was twinned with Heidelberg in 1957 and with Szeged in 1987. (The county of Cambridgeshire is twinned with Kreis Viersen in Germany.)
Twinning of cities was designed to help prevent wars, but it is largely symbolic now and most residents would not even know with whom Cambridge was twinned.
