Long Road Sixth Form is one of the better state-funded schools
in the city, many of the buildings are not that good but this
is an interesting sports structure known as the 'Bubble'.
It was first built in 1989 but was badly damaged in a storm
in 1990 and then rebuilt.
In 2004 the building was closed down because of maintenance
costs. It was demolished (deflated) in 2005. The school
had meanwhile opened a new sports centre on an adjoining
parcel.
