The only building by Foster and Partners in Cambridge, and very
typical of the Norman Foster style. It is poorly served by its
location, being far too cramped on this site. The glass lobby
is typical style for the era but does not use much space. This
building had one of the highest specifications for any building
in the city.
Initially the library opened out with the rest of the
building, which made it noisy, but a glass partition was
added which solved the problem.
