Much of the current wealth of Cambridge is driven by hi-tech companies. Trinity College started the first science park in Cambridge in the 1960s. St John's developed their own science park across Milton Road from Trinity's in 1987, and has expanded several times since then.

The Trinity science park generally has larger companies, the St John's science park generally has smaller companies.

The interior of the St John's Innovation Centre has walls which are easily movable, providing flexible accomodation. It does this without having an ugly exterior.
