Cambridge 2000: Martingale Close: 12-16
Martingale Close: 12-16: three houses
Scotsdale Garden Centre is currently located in a village called
Great Shelford, just south of Cambridge. It used to be located
in Cambridge itself, in an area of north Cambridge just off
Histon Road. After the company moved the land laid derelict
for many years, pretty much only being used by people walking
their dogs. In the 1990s a couple of new housing developments
were put on this land. In keeping with all such modern
developments the houses have tiny plots. Pictured above
are typical houses on the developments, which could be
from any 1990s housing estate in England. The houses are
very close to the neighbouring properties and they effectively
have no gardens. The far side of the houses is
greenbelt land.
One other typical feature of English houses is
the satellite TV dish.
