The Cambridge Evening News says:

Marshall Aerospace has won the lead role in a £1.52 billion contract to maintain the RAF's Hercules aircraft fleet for 24 years.

The contract will be worth about £500 million to the Cambridge company and will secure the future of around 500 staff dedicated to maintaining the fleet.

The Ministry of Defence has made Marshall Aerospace the prime contractor in the Hercules Integrated Operational Support contract.

Congratulations to Marshall's. Unfortunately they might not be a "Cambridge company" for long, since the Cambridge ruling elite (mainly the LibDems) have been agitating for Marshall's to leave Cambridge for years now. This is because the Cambridge ruling elite arrogantly believe that getting your hands dirty is not suitable work for the people who live in and around Cambridge. And they also want to use the land for thousands of new homes, which makes little sense (there is no point building homes on economically productive greenbelt land, when there are thousands of acres of effectively uneconomic greenbelt land surrounding Cambridge).
